If you’re a proud owner of an Acura TLX, then our team here at Ira Acura Westwood is ready to help you get the most out of your car for years to come.
To keep it running at its best around Westwood, Dedham, Needham, and Norwood, Massachusetts, you’ll need to stay on schedule for the routine maintenance it needs. This is to ensure the various systems within your car are all working safely and smoothly.
Below, we go over how to keep on top of your vehicle’s services with our Acura TLX maintenance schedule.
Stay on Top of Routine Services With Maintenance Minder™
There are a lot of convenient benefits of driving an Acura TLX, and that includes the fact that it can alert you when key services are needed. That’s because the car has the Maintenance Minder™ feature.
This can signify the condition of the engine oil. When it gets to 15% or lower, you’ll want to schedule to have it changed. Maintenance Minder™ may also display various numbers and letters that let you know of other specific services your car needs.
As an example, when the number one is displayed, it’ll be time to also have the tires rotated. If you see the letter B, you’ll want to get systems like the brakes and suspension inspected along with changing the oil and checking the levels of other fluids.
To see what each letter or number displayed in your TLX represents, you can refer to your owner’s manual and see which services you’ll need to schedule.
Timeline for Key Acura TLX Services
There are a handful of maintenance items that’ll be required at specific intervals. Most of the time, you’ll get a message from Maintenance Minder™ to complete these services. However, you’ll want to ensure that at minimum you’re getting these items taken care of at the mileage or duration of time mentioned below…
- Engine oil: This will need to be changed at least once every year.
- Air cleaner element: Depending on the conditions you drive in, this should be replaced every 15,000 miles.
- Brake fluid: Have this changed at least once every three years.
- Transmission fluid and transfer case fluid: These could potentially need to be replaced every 15,000 miles.
Inspections You Can Perform
There are also a handful of checks you can do right from home to stay aware of the condition of your vehicle.
Once a month, you’ll want to check the:
- Brake fluid level
- Tire pressure
- Tire tread
- Exterior lights
Also, every six months, you’ll want to check the condition of the wiper blades.
If you notice anything is worn, not working properly, or you’re low on fluids when doing these checks, you’ll want to have your vehicle serviced as soon as possible.
