Acura MDX Maintenance Schedule
Acura MDX Maintenance Schedule
Driving an Acura MDX around Westwood, Dedham, Needham, and Norwood, Massachusetts, is an experience in itself. It has plenty of power to unleash swift acceleration. Its transmission glides through the gears to smoothly get you up to speed. The suspension works to keep you comfortable over all roads and confident as you handle a corner. Then the brakes are ready to quickly bring you to a stop when needed.
The thing is, to keep your Acura MDX performing like the well-crafted machine it is, you’ll need to stay on top of the routine services it needs. That is where our Ira Acura Westwood team is here to help! That starts with providing this Acura MDX maintenance schedule so you can know what services to get for your car and when to do so.
When Should I Change the Oil in My Acura MDX?
The timing of oil changes depends on many factors. That includes your typical driving conditions and even the weather. Luckily, the Acura MDX is equipped with Maintenance Minder™. This technology is able to determine the status of the engine oil and display a message letting you know that status.
When you see that the oil life is at 15 percent or lower, you will want to go ahead and schedule your next oil change as soon as possible. You’ll also want to make sure you get at least one oil change every six months, regardless if there is a message on your dashboard or not.
Maintenance Minder™ Codes
Along with letting you know when the engine oil is due for a change, Maintenance Minder™ also alerts you of other services your Acura MDX will need at a given time. It does this by also displaying various letters and numbers, each of them representing a specific service or set of services.
Letter Codes
If you see the letter A, you will only need to have the engine oil replaced. The letter B signifies that you will want to replace the engine oil and also have a comprehensive inspection of your vehicle completed. That includes having the brakes, suspension components, exhaust system, and steering gearbox inspected. You’ll also want to have all fluids checked to gauge their levels and condition.
Number Codes
If you see the number one, it means it will also be time to rotate the tires. If the number two is also shown, then have the air cleaner element and dust and pollen filter replaced. If you notice you are driving through dusty conditions, these will need to be replaced at least every 15,000 miles. You’ll also want to have the drive belt inspected when the number two is displayed.
Number three means the transmission and transfer case fluid needs to be changed. If you see the number four, the spark plugs are due for a change as well as the timing belt. The engine coolant will also eventually need to be replaced, which is signified when the number five is shown on the message. Other fluids that will be replaced are the rear differential fluid (number six services) and the brake fluid (number seven services). At a minimum, the brake fluid needs to be changed every three years.
